water me??
Yesterday, was not as successful as I hoped, I installed my intervention on Kloof street. One gentlemen watered the plants, only after I asked if he would do so. After and hour not one person reacted on the poster, and watered the plants, the most people did, was to stare at the poster while walking past.
help me!
Is it too much to stop and interact?
Tomorrow will be take two...wish me luck, again!

ISTD inspiration
When doing research for my brief, these amazing photos by Hannah Davis was a big inspiration to me, in the way she captured nature in all our man-made surroundings.

ISTD
Welcome to Basil & Wood, I launched this blog, for the project I'm doing for the ISTD project, " Not just Fleurons".
My project is inspired by the statement they gave us in the brief.
" The many great gardens of the world, of literature and poetry, of painting and music, of religion and architecture, all make the point as clear as possible; the soul cannot thrive in the absence of a garden. If you don't want paradise, you are not human; and if you are not human; you don't have a soul."
Thomas Moore
The Project is based on an experiment, to see if this given statement is true, do people really care about gardens or even just the idea of a garden?
So, this week, the experiment will be launched, in Kloof Street, Gardens, Cape Town. I'm testing it today, to see if I will actually be able to base an experiment on my idea.
I will place a small "instillation" garden on Kloof street with posters saying "PLANTS, PLANTS, PLANTS" to attracts attention, and "water me" on the bottom of the posters. I will then be around to record people's reactions towards the "garden" and if there is some kind of truth in Thomas Moore's statement!
Wish me luck!
